1) At what stage of virus replication, does the virus use iron? Is it possible that virus hijacks mitochondria for further iron reduction to serve iron needs of the virus?

2) Iron gets reduced from the Fe3+ state to the Fe2+ state by the action of enzyme ferric reductase (are there different type of ferric reductase enzymes, possibly to reduce it even further after reducing it into Fe2? What enzymes convert Fe2 to Fe3?). Does it make sense for the human body to storeiron in Fe3 format so that viruses can't use them?

3) The iron in the Fe2+ state enters the mitochondria to form the iron-sulfur complex (so does mitochondria convert Fe2 into Fe-S?).

4) These are iron-sulfur proteins involved in the transport of electrons for generating energy. The hydrogen ions are pumped across the membrane. - why are hydrogen ions pumped?
