ASSESSMENT TASK 3

For this task, there are three (3) parts. You are required to review the information provided, use rostering software to produce and cost rosters that meet operational requirements for three different roster periods

PART A - MARINO BOTTLE SHOP
Case Study Background Information
Marino Bottle-O is a standalone liquor store with a drive through facility. The bottle shop is open from 11am -7pm Mondays to Sundays. It has a shopfront on the street plus a two-lane drive-through service area on one side.
Wage costs must represent 20% or below of projected revenue for the period. Average projected revenue for a standard week is $20,000.00.
Management has a strict Diversity policy stating that "All employees will have the right to flexible working arrangements to allow them to fulfil their religious obligations".
To ensure adequate security and the delivery of required customer service levels, staffing numbers are set as follows:
• 1 staff with cashier skills designated solely as a Cashier is required at the cash register for all Friday and weekend shift times
• 2 staff with customer service skills and an RSA Certificate designated solely as Service staff are to be on duty at all operating times.
• 1 staff with Stocking skills is required to stocktake every Monday at start of first shift for 4 hours and re-stock the shelves and cool room every Tuesday from 11pm to 3pm
Details of the available full-time staff are provided as follows:
• David and Terry are both aged 35 years and are full-time staff under a negotiated workplace agreement. They are both classified as Food and Beverage Attendant Level 3 under the Award, but are paid at a higher negotiated base rate of $25/hour (plus any weekend penalties applicable under the award). They have both agreed to work 8-hour shifts to a total of 40 hours per week to suit the opening hours.
• David and Terry's negotiated workplace agreement also entitles them each to two consecutive days off per week.
At least one of either David or Terry must be on shift at all times, however their availability is constrained by individual circumstances:
• David is Catholic and attends Mass and has other religious commitments and so he is not available Wednesdays. He has elected to take Tuesdays as his other rostered day off.
• Terry has a young family and cannot work weekends.
Details of all other available staff, who are paid at the relevant part-time or casual award rate, are provided as follows:
• Amelia aged 22 years, employed on a part-time basis a classified as Level 2. Amelia is available for 8 hours/day up to 4 days/week.
• Cassie is aged 30 years, also employed on a part-time basis but classified as Level 3. Cassie is available for any shifts up to a maximum of 24 hours/week.
• Andre is aged 21 years, employed on a casual basis classified, classified as Level 2. Andre is available at any time.
Every full-time and part-time staff member has the required skills and certification to undertake any of the roster positions. However any staff employed as a casuals do not have customer service skills and do not hold an RSA certificate.

INSTRUCTIONS
You are required to develop and cost a standard weekly staff roster for Marino Bottle-O that will be put in place and which should only need to be changed if staff circumstances change . The standard roster must:
• allocate the minimum staff with the appropriate skills mix required to satisfy the service requirements,
• remain within the wages budget constraints for total wages costs for the period,
• comply with all relevant industrial provisions, and
• comply with all relevant organisational policies.

ACTIVITY 2
1. For Activity 2, your Assessor will provide you with the SITXHRM002_Roster Staff software application. Follow the software application instructions to set up a roster template suitable for the Marino Bottle-O. To ensure you will have enough staffing options, nominate the following potential Roster Positions:
• Service 1
• Service 2
• Service 3
• Service 4
• Cashier 1
• Cashier 2
• Stocking
2. Using the information provided in the Case Study Background, input the following required fields in the Skills and Hours section for each staff member:
i) First name
ii) Employee type (full-time/part-time/casual)

Case Study update
• Management are considering whether it would be feasible to open on two upcoming Public Holidays when they would normally be closed. They project that additional revenue for the two days would be $14,500 in total and that the staffing requirements would be-
1 staff with cashier skills designated solely as a Cashier is required at the cash register for both days
One of the full-time staff members must be on duty at all opening times for both days
One other staff with customer service skills and an RSA Certificate designated solely as Service staff are to be on duty both days.
As an incentive, rather than getting paid their agreement rate or award rates with time off in lieu, full-time staff have been offered the award rate for their level for public holidays, which is considerably higher.
There are no requirements for stocktake or restocking during the two days.
All staff have indicated that they will be available for any shifts over the two days except David, as the two days are for a religious holiday.
You are required to develop and cost a public holiday staff roster for Marino Bottle-O to assist management decide whether or not to open on the two public holidays. The standard roster must:
• allocate the minimum staff with the appropriate skills mix required to satisfy the service requirements,
• remain within the wages budget constraints for total wages costs for the period,
• comply with all relevant industrial provisions, and
• comply with all relevant organisational policies

Amelia is taking leave for one week and therefore a new temporary roster needs to be developed to ensure her shifts are covered whilst keeping the total wages cost within the 20% of revenue budget constraint and as economically as possible using the existing staff.

You are required to develop and cost a temporary staff-cover roster for Marino Bottle-O to cover the unavailability of Cassie for one week. You must use the standard roster that you developed in Part A as a base and aim for the least amount of changes as possible whilst still adhering to the budget and other constraints. The temporary roster must:
