Two trains are accidentally put on the same track and are heading toward one another. Both trains are travelling at 120 km/h and are separated by 0.500 km. The larger train can slow down with a 5.00 m/s2 acceleration. The smaller train can slow down with an acceleration of 8.50 m/s2. Do the trains collide? If they do collide, at what speed is each train travelling at when they do collide? If they do not collide, what is the separation between them when they both stop?
