Every society and culture has rules and norms and laws to explain and enforce the values it wants to promote and to punish behaviors that deviate from these norms and rules. For example, although body piercing and tattoos are widely accepted in some cultures, in some other cultures they are perceived as proof of poor social maturity and bad judgment.
