In our Chapter this week of Politics and Government, let's talk about the huge ramifications of entire cities and municipalities going bankrupt, i.e.

Think Detroit or Chicago facing bankruptcy and what role pension plans and entitlements play in their future success. In addition, think deeply about the horrific hurricane damage in the Florida Panhandle. People were told that it was a mandatory evacuation- but still stayed and put their lives in extreme danger. We buy insurance to protect us from the 100-year floods, earthquakes, etc. We employ actuaries to predict how long we will live, what the returns should be for adequate returns on pension plans............................

Compare and contrast how planning is wise and yet facing your most brutal reality is required as well. Answer all 8 questions down below.

1. Should you rely on the government to make wise financial decisions with your retirement monies....................is anything guaranteed besides "death and taxes?"
2. There is a new twist emerging since COVID; families are migrating to other areas of the country where they can work remotely. How does this affect the outcome of municipalities- both good and bad?
