Question: What special exam techniques need to be performed on a pregnant woman? How and why do you do these?
What are the common signs and symptoms or pregnancy? How do you determine if a symptom is normal or abnormal - for example, nausea and vomiting is a normal finding in early pregnancy, but how do you know when it is no longer normal? How do you counsel a woman about self care measures for discomforts in pregnancy during the entire gestation?
In examining a pregnant woman, you are essentially examining both her and the fetus. What exam techniques do you use to assess the fetus in utero?
