Consider the following as a group leader:
1. On the leadership spectrum of Laissez-faire to Authoritarian, where do you think you fall naturally?
- Are you comfortable with where you are on the spectrum? Why or why not?
2. Identify and discuss current strengths, qualities and/or resources you possess, that will be an advantage in group leadership.
3. Identify and discuss current limitations, qualities and/or resources you possess, that may present limitations in group leadership.
4. Evaluate the group leader skills listed in chapter of the textbook (facilitation skills, data gathering and processing skills, action skills)
- Which of these skills do you currently feel comfortable with as a leader?
- Which make you feel uncomfortable?
- Which skills are you good at already and which will you need to work on?
5. What types of people in the past have made you feel uncomfortable? What types of people have you had conflict with? Which types of people do you get along with?
6. What social situations make you feel really uncomfortable? How will you respond to these situations if presented?
7. Discuss how you currently feel about/preferences regarding the following (from the textbook):
- Co-leadership or shared power

- Direct confrontation
- Conflict
- Diversity
- Planning, expectations, and structure
- Flexibility and spontaneity
8. Evaluate your personal identity, ethnic identity, and social identity. How will your culture and background influence your approach to group leadership?
