Assignment
In Module, you have been learning about the importance of reflecting on our space, legacy, and land while acknowledging the various strengths you bring to higher education. You have thought about the forms of capital you possess, including familial, aspirational, linguistic, and resistant capital. You have also started our One Book, One College selection entitled Olympic Boulevard. In this activity, you are asked to write a list of affirmations about you using the structure provided OR feel free to freestyle with whatever form you choose. Whichever you select, your affirmations must be an affirming and validating reflection of yourself. Have fun!
Part A: Draw a Diagram
There are two ways that you can create your diagram:
I. Similar to a family tree, divide the page into three horizontal sections: one for your generation, one for your parents' generation, and a third for your grandparents' generation. Create boxes or shapes to represent each family member and include jobs/careers that they have had and the skills they have. Draw a line connecting people to demonstrate relationships.
II. Center yourself around very important people, begin by creating a box or shape in the middle of the page that represents you. Then include boxes or shapes around you that represent friends, relatives, and other people in your life that have been highly influential. For each person, include the careers/jobs they have had and the skills they possess(ed).
