Problem: Product Pricing and Payer Contracting Strategy You have held several clinical presentations with many large payers (PBMs and Health Plans). The general feedback that you have been given is that they are ok with your clinical story (safety and efficacy). They did not particularly like your dosing regimen; however, they were intrigued by your flexible dosing in the maintenance phase. The payers also mentioned that they are looking for competition in this drug class given the fact that the market leader is currently meeting the clinical needs of the moderate to severe patient population with minimal discounts. Being a smaller company than the market leader, your WAC price is slightly higher by 8% ($64,800). What things should you consider when building your contracting strategy? - - - - - Given the potential lower utilization of your drug vs. the existing therapy on the market via your flexible dosing in the maintenance period, should you offer higher or lower rebate as an example? What should your level of formulary coverage / access be to be successful? How does our flexible dosing play into your pricing / discounting strategy? What would be your approach to contracting? Is there the possibility to offer a risk-based contract? Offer an access rebate + an incremental rebate if such volume savings are not achieved by the payer, or any innovative approach to pricing and contracting to insure coverage of your product.
