Question: As a nation, one of our major responses to illegal actions is to imprison those that are suspected and/or caught committing crimes. The United States imprisons a larger percentage of our population than any other country in the world: Over 2 million people! In addition, people of color, especially African-American males, are highly over-represented in the jail and prison populations: An example of institutional discrimination.

As a nation, have we made a good decision to imprison so many people? If we don't incarcerate those that break laws, what should we do with them?
