A hopper having a mass of 2250 kg is designed to hold a bulk load of salt having a mass of 9250 kg. The hopper is to be suspended by four rectangular straps, each orientated 20 degrees from the vertical and each carrying one fourth of the load from the hopper+salt. Steel plate, with a thickness of 12 mm is to be used to make the straps. What should the minimum width of the straps be in order to limit the stress to 120 MPa, whereby straps are available in increments of 5 mm widths.
