Context:

Derek is a new front desk supervisor at the Grand Hyatt in midtown New York City. He is fresh out of SHA with relatively little experience. However, he graduated from Cornell University with honors and was the director of operations for Hotel Ezra Cornell in his senior year. Several of the people he supervises are significantly older and more experienced than Derek. His first day on the job, rumors began flying around that he only got the job at Hyatt because his mother is a VP at Hyatt Corporate. Derek knows that his mother's position probably made a difference, but he also knows he is well qualified for his job... though sometimes he wonders.
