Writing thank you notes is a skill and showing gratitude for how people help you is very much a characteristic of a professional. For this assignment you need to send a thank you note to someone who has helped you over the course of the semester. It might be an advisor, a guest speaker in one of your classes, someone you interviewed with, a scholarship donor, etc. Your note must be professionally presented and may be handwritten or typed and can be sent as a hardcopy or email-whichever you think appropriate. Use your professional judgment.

A couple of things about writing Thank You notes:

Think carefully about what should be included in a Thank You note to be professional. You want it to be specific for the person and recognize what s/he did for you. Draft your note and if it could be sent to anyone about anything ("thanks a lot for your help"), then you need to revise. Let the person know how they help you; what did it mean to you?
