For this assignment you will conduct an interview with a person who works at an Assisted Living Facility (ALF) or similar agency (Independent Living, etc.). The purpose of this interview is to explore the services available to adults with disabilities, as well as to gain insight and valuable information regarding working with this particular population.

Be sure to include the following:

An introduction of the individual you interview, his/her role at the ALF, job description, educational and professional experiences, and what attracted them to the field.

Name the specific developmental disabilities this individual has experience with.

What services does the ALF provide?

What is a day look like for a resident?

How do they keep current in the area of developmental disabilities?

What challenges have they encountered in working with this population in this setting?

What successes have they encountered professionally?

What are some suggestions or helpful tips they could provide you with in regards to working with this population in the near future?

What are some of the referral sources they use with this population?

How does the individual work with the families of those with developmental disabilities?

The paper should be 5 to 8 pages in length. Your paper should include course readings and material learned from class to support the interviewee's answers. Please address the reasons for choosing that particular individual for your interview. Include a description of the interview (NOT a verbatim transcription).

Discuss the main themes of the interview.
