Assignment:
Some of the questions SHRM says need to be answered prior to creating an onboarding program include:
1. When will onboarding start? (not a date - but measured by an employee's start date) and why then?
2. How long will it last? (and why this length).
3. What impression (of the organization) do you want new hires to walk away with at the end of the first day (and why?)
4. What do new employees need to know about the culture and work environment?
5. What role will HR play in the process? What about direct managers? Co-workers?
6. What kind of goals do you want to set for new employees?
7. How will you gather feedback on the program and measure its success? (Maurer, 2017).
For your initial post, assume that you are creating an onboarding program for your organization where you currently work (or where you would like to work). In your post, answer the above list of questions. This set of answers will be provided to your HR Director to show him or her what needs to be included in the new onboarding program. Be sure that you cite your sources if you use them.
