Please answer each of the following questions:
1) Consider the story of Stan and Jim. How would you handle that situation? Would you choose loyalty or truth?
2) What role do you think your ethnicity and nationality play when considering individual verses community decisions? Your reading in Chapter will help with answering the question. Remeber in the US we are very focused on individuals having rights as demonstrated by our Bill of Rights. In other cultures there is a greater emphasis on choices that benefit the family or community as a whole.
3) Give an example of a time you had to make a right vs. right decision. Explain the choice and indicate it it was a truth vs. loyalty, short-term vs. long-term, justice vs. mercy, or individual vs. community.
4) Consider the conflict between Justice vs. Mercy. Do you typically see yourself as more inclined towards the virtue of Justice or the virtue of Mercy? How would you have handled the author''s example of the food editor''s blueberry article?
