Understanding Your Body, Sexuality, and Reproductive Health
Home or Hospital? Holding Space for Birth
- Share some of the ideas you found most interesting and why.
- Define "implicit bias". What role do you think this plays for women and health care?
- Pick two points from the first video with Erica Chidi Cohen that you found interesting. Explain why.
- Home or Hospital explains attitudes, values and resources that could impact a woman's experience of giving birth. Did anything surprise you about her talk? What do you think is the primary factor in making a decision of where you might want to birth a child (or where you did birth your child). Many hospitals in the United States now have birthing rooms that are much more supportive to the birth mom's experience. With this in mind share your own thoughts/opinions about where you would feel most safe and nurtured while giving birth. The key is not to judge what is right or wrong, but instead what is best for you and why.
