Assessment: Presentation - Hazard identification and control
In this task you are required to educate new employees about hazard identification and the control of associated risks.
You will do this by delivering a presentation showing a range of hazards and explaining how the risk(s) can be managed.
The presentation should be no longer than 20 minutes in length with at least 10 minutes spent in consultative discussion. The contents of your presentation are outlined below
To gather the examples for your presentation you will visit your local Shopping Centre or the Adelaide Central Market. During your visit you need to identify and photograph at least 5 hazards.
You will then research and analyse each hazard identifying the following:
• What is the hazard?
• What risk is associated with the hazard?
• Why are the current control(s) inadequate?
• Map the risk according to a hierarchy of control?
• What level is the risk?
• Is expert advice required to develop the new controls?
• What action(s) needs to be taken to manage the risk?
• How would you implement the new control(s)?
• How would you monitor the effectiveness of the control(s)?
