Case Study: B.G., a 60-year-old married African American man, comes to the ED because of an inability to void the past 13 hours and pain in the lower abdomen. He complains of the urge to void and is restles anxious, and agitated. His rectal exam reveals prostate enlargement. He has hematuria, bacteria, and WBCs in his urine bladder is tender and palpable above the umbilicus. His PSA level is 5 ng/mL. An indwelling catheter is inserted and he is admitted to the hospital for observation.
