Write an introductory paragraph and address the following to introduce your new learning and research:
• Question 1: What resources you used for your research?
• Question 2: What did you uncover about school safety/violence in the community in which you live?
• Question 3: What are issues you found, during your research, that the community/schools should be focusing on?
Part II:
For your interview piece you can talk with teachers, principals, etc. to gather information on how that particular school addresses the criteria below. If you have a child in the school system, you can pull your research from your personal experiences at your child's school also.
In your write up you will need to list who you spoke with, the school or what sites you used for your research and findings.
During your interview you will be focusing on the following components:
• Question 1: Has the school encountered safety issues? What are the main types of school violence they encounter?
• Question 2: What types of practices does the school have in place to prevent the violence that occurs in todays schools?
• Question 3: What procedures does the school have in place for handling or responding to school violence/threats? Does the school inform families of their policies?
