Question

The organization would like your presentation to address transcultural nursing theories and how they might impact a patient's health decision-making. Further, PHPA has surveyed its' members and found the majority do not feel confident in their ability to deliver culturally-competent care. As such, the Association feels it would be beneficial for you to discuss how culture and social factors impact patient decision-making, since these variables are integral parts of cultural competency in health care.

4. What Segue from transcultural care to cultural competency to ensure audience understands the relationship.

5. What cultural competency in health care means and a discussion of characteristics of culturally-competent providers.

6. What cultural factors are and how they play a role in health-related patient decision-making. Provide at least two examples of how culture impacts a patient's ability to make healthy choices.

7. What social determinants are and how they play a role in health-related patient decision-making. Provide at least two examples of how social factors impact a patient's ability to make healthy choices.

8. What are the role of the family in a patient's health care decision-making. Provide at least two examples of how the family impacts a patient's ability to make healthy choices.
