Assignment:
Think Why is trying to prioritize numerous competing data projects based on several factors, including overall impact to customers and level of effort for internal teams.
One potential project is how hourly wages are displayed. Our current methodology takes annual salaries and divides by 2,080 hours (the full-time equivalent of 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). In reality, not all employees are working full time. The result is that for some roles, wages displayed in the product are below local ($15/hour in LA) or federal minimum wage ($7.25/hour).
We've provided a sample of roles for the Los Angeles, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
The goal is to understand the scope of the potential data challenge.
Please provide answers (bullet points are fine!) and any tables/graphs you find necessary in response to the questions below.
Question 1. What questions would you ask key stakeholders and team members as you start the project?
Question 2. Provide some preliminary analysis to help us understand the scope. Any ideas for easy-to-understand data visualizations are welcome!
Question 3. What would your potential next steps be following the preliminary analysis on the sample data?
Question 4. Any additional data observations or questions?
