Research - Protecting Information For many organizations, information is their most valuable asset. Yet, information also can be the most difficult asset to protect. The primary problem is with employee information theft. Gaining ground quickly, however, is information theft by people who break into an organization's computer system via the Internet. In a test of the vulnerability of various computer systems, a Web security firm was able to make unauthorized trades at a mutual fund, access employee schedules at an airline, and change information in patient files at a health care center. Use the Web and/or print media to research how information can be protected from employees, customers, and other intruders and then prepare a report that answers the following questions: What security measures are available today? What proposals are planned for the future? Cite some examples of information theft and how the victim organization/person later was able to prevent the theft from reoccurring.
