Assignment: The Wave of the Future
Knowing the level of inventory is an important part of any inventory management system. In this discussion, you will consider whether radio frequency identification technology (RFID) is the next solution to improve inventory and supply chain management.
Read the section "RFID: The Wave of the Future" from your textbook (p. 613). Respond to the following:
• What problems might occur with the full implementation of RFID technology in retail industries? Specifically consider the amount of data that might be collected.
• What factors make managing inventory more difficult for exporters and multinational companies?
• Why is inventory an investment?
Post your primary response. Read any postings already provided by your instructor or fellow students. See the SBT Discussion Rubric for how you will be evaluated for this activity. Remember to read the feedback to your own major postings and reply to it throughout the module.
