Classmate: The problem that I would address is gun violence, it matters to me and the world around me because it is an increasing issue that seems to be getting worse by the day, more specifically affecting more children and young adults. The proposed performance will address it by displaying both the long term and short term affects of gun violence within our youth on not only individuals and their families, but the community as well. During the performance a young person will die from gun violence in his neighborhood and the aftermath would be shown for the person who committed the crime and the victims family as well. This performance would be staged in the street of a neighborhood where it can catch peoples attention and reach those who would not take the time to attend a theater performance. The intended audience will be the youth and all individuals within the community who have the power to reach the youth and make an impact on them. My intent would be to perform the piece in the street so that even if they never intended to come, it will be hard to avoid. My intent would be to have the performance be as realistic as possible to make my audience not feel like an audience, but more so a bystander. I hope that the performance will show the affects of gun violence and that the statistics will decrease. I would use the story telling technique in the end of the performance to increase the impact of the performance on the audience.
