Find an example of a poll result in a newspaper or magazine and choose one result of the poll to discuss. For example, I found a Seattle Times article reporting on a poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research showing that 72% of parents in low-income families are at least somewhat concerned about their child falling behind academically while schools are closed during the pandemic.

Find your own example and read the article to see how the poll information is presented. Then answer the following questions.

-What population is the poll supposed to represent?

-Does the poll result you found represent a sample statistic or a population parameter? How do you know? Does the article do good job explaining whether the results are based on a sample or the entire population of interest?

-Is the poll result presented in the article as a point estimate or a confidence interval? How do you know this?

-What other information would you like to have to assess the quality of the poll and the inference made from the poll?
