Part One: My Personal Learning Profile at a Glance
This section gives you an opportunity to enhance your visual learning strengths.
Create a visual representation of your learning profile. You may use the Personal Learning Profile.docx or create an image of your own.
Be sure to include a brief explanation of your choices.
Note: If you do not create your image in WORD, be sure to find a way to submit your response digitally. For example, if you create a model, you could take a picture with your cell phone or digital camera; you could then include the picture with this document.
Part Two: A Reflection on my Profile
Take some time to reflect on all the information you have collected about yourself. Prepare a written reflection that considers ideas such as the following:
1. What have you learned about yourself? Consider ideas such as the following:
a. How do the results of the VAK survey reflect what you already thought about your strengths and abilities? How are they different than you expected? What other learning strengths do you feel you have? Which ones would you most like to develop? Why?
b. How has your cultural background influenced your learning experience?
c. What personal challenges do you face as a student?
d. What supports do you have access to that can help you overcome these challenges?
2. Which actions demonstrate my learning? List and explain actions/activities you have done that demonstrate your learning style. Consider how you have used your self-awareness to improve your performance in other classes or learning situations. Be specific.
3. Give an example for each of the three parts of the profile:
a. Learning Preference
b. Culture
c. Self
4. Learning strengths and academic success:
a. List and explain three ways that knowing this information about yourself can impact on your academic success. Be specific. For example - you could discuss some specific strategies that you might use based upon your knowledge of yourself as an adult learner.
Tips on Preparing your Assignment
Prepare the information in standard written format. You may include section headings, and you should use complete sentences and paragraphs.
