Assignment: Dataset

Example Dataset Questions

There are three dimensions for each latent variable. The latent variables are as follows: Citizenship Pressure (CP); Job Engagement (JE); Work-to-Family Enrichment (WTFE). The three dimensions for CP are Helping (CPH; 14 questions), Individual Initiative (CPII; 15 questions), and Loyalty (CPL, 5 questions). The three dimensions for JE are Physical (JEP, 6 questions), Emotional (JEE, 6 questions), and Cognitive (JEC, 6 questions). The three dimensions for WTFE are Affective (WTFEA, 4 questions), Behavior-Based Instrumental (WTFEB, 4 questions), and Value-Based Instrumental (WTFEV, 3 questions).

Instructions

Number your respondents 1, 2,....n (hint: create an ID for each individual in column A). The following indicators (measured variables) CPH9 and CPH10 have been deleted.

Answer the following questions:

I. What is the sample size for the study before eliminating anything?

II. Delete the observation that do not qualify for the study. That is, how many people did not answer yes to both the qualifying questions (Qualifying Question 1 = 1; Qualifying Question 2 = 1)? (Qual 1 and Qual2)

III. i. Calculate the percentage per Item to determine what percentage of data are missing (e.g., CPH, after deleting CPH9 and CPH10, has 14 items).

ii. Replace the remaining zeros (missing data) with the mean for each dimension

IV. Create an average for the following 9 dimensions: CPH, CPII, CPL, JEP, JEE, JEC, WTFEA, WTFEB, WTFEV. Also, create an average for the following 3 latent variables: CP, JE, WTFE

i. Were the 9 variables (i.e., CPH, CPII, CPL, JEP, JEE, JEC, WTFEA, WTFEB, WTFEV) normal before you checked outliers? Were the 3 variables (i.e., CP, JE, WTFE) normal before you checked outliers?

ii. Find multivariate outliers for CP, JE and WTFE
