A cable channel has been paid to run a variety of commericals throughout the day. The mean length of these commercials is 47 seconds, with a standard deviation of 9 seconds.

a) Assuming that the length of television commercials is roughly normal (i.e. bell) shaped, approximately what percentage of commercials would be expected to run between 29 and 65 seconds in length?

b) Suppose a clothing retailer wishes to purchase commercial space on this cable television channel, with a commercial that is 55 seconds long. Calculate the Z-score for the clothing retailer's commercial.

c) In order to maintain commercial breaks that are reasonable in length, the cable company does not want to accept commercials that are exceptionally long. Based on the Z-score for the clothing retailer's commercial, should the cable company accept this commercial to run on its channels?
