Read , given by General George S. Patton, Jr., USA, to US Third Army units in advance of the 1944 Allied invasion of Normandy. As you read the speech, take note of Patton's commentary regarding American society of his day. For your response to this discussion board assignment, address these points:

1. Is what Patton said about his America still true today?

2. If there are things in the speech you believe are no longer true, or substantially less true, which items? And why?

Heads up: There is plenty of foul language in the speech. Remember this was a soldier talking casually to other soldiers. As Patton said, he put it the way he could get their attention and get them to remember it. He was a very entertaining speaker.
