As we watch the film, take notes about masculinity.

Please list some characteristics that you think are positive and some that are negative.

We learn about "gender-appropriate" behaviors from a lot of different sources: family, friends, religion, the military, etc. However, many (if not most) of the behaviors we learn stem from exposure to media.

As the documentary discusses specific "masculine" traits, please consider (and list) media texts or genres that have taught you about these traits.

How can we encourage the development of healthy masculinity? What part can women play in fostering this development?
