Case Study: Beyerein's collaborative work systems work best when power is diffused throughout the organization and information is held in common. This kind of teamwork-focused workplace does not work well if team members do not have the kind of information they need to make decisions or the power to implement their decisions. Every member of the organization has to accept this less-hierarchical structure. This model can be difficult for those who are accustomed to a top-down structure and want to continue to function in this way, whether they are used to the power that comes with being on the top or the minimal expectations that come with being on the bottom.
