Motivation does impact an individual's behavior. One of our employees was motivated when he received a reward for his performance and soon after his behavior had changed. He was going around helping his peers out in order to complete their duties. This employee became pro-active when it came to volunteering for special projects.

In our organization we had some employees that were not engaged. I had to figure out what would motivate them in order to put something in place that would actually work. I knew that a monetary reward would not be the answer. What these employees wanted was for management to show their appreciation for all their hard work. Management decided to surprise them with a home cooked meal. The employees were very motivated and appreciative with the management team.
