Problem: Human Resources is an important part of any organization. This department is often looking for ways to prevent lawsuits, protect patients and employees, etc. I attended a leadership meeting last week and the Human Resources director spoke to our leaders for about 2 hours, It was eye-opening to me to see some things she does that most people do not think about being related to Human Resources. For example, she is in the process of restructuring our pay rate policies. In the long run, she is doing this to prevent the organization from facing a lawsuit regarding discrimination based on pay. By updating this policy, the facility may also have an easier time hiring people from outlying cities because we will be able to compete with the pay rates of larger cities. What other roles would Human Resources have that someone may not otherwise think about?
