You will demonstrate your understanding of how to support the gifted learners you identified in the case studies.

Using the case studies in your first assessment, provide a critique on the ways that your gifted learners can be supported in the school or centre. Ensure that your critique is supported with appropriate academic literature.

Case Study 1:

Charlotte is a seven year old girl in second grade who has shown a strong interest in several subjects, however her grades show she doesn't excel well in them. Charlotte is favourable towards music and her skills make her stand out. She can play several songs on the piano by ear because her mother gave her some technical instructions. Charlotte's ability to commit conversations to memory and recreate them with the appropriate accents of the people who originally said them is another example of her exceptional recall talents. Charlotte has little contact with others and does not communicate with her classmates. Autism has been identified as Charlotte's underlying condition.

Case study 2:

Peter is a ten-year-old kid who is now in the fifth grade and has a temperament that is described as calm and cooperative. He puts a significant amount of importance on creating work of high quality and is prone to anxiety and frustration if he believes that the work is not up to his own standards. Peter has given a speech in class and demonstrated his broad vocabulary and use of puns, although he needs more confidence in his talents. He has also shown a strong interest in language by researching the origins of certain words and phrases. Additionally, Peter demonstrates exceptional mathematical ability, performing work at a year 6 level.
