Problem

A 5 month old (9Kg) with unrepaired atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect presents to cardiology clinic for pre-operative evaluation. He has trisomy 21 and medical/surgical history only significant for monthly cardiology follow-up (he missed his last scheduled appointment 5 weeks ago) and an 'abdominal surgery' when he was a newborn. The patient has no allergies and his medications include Lasix 5mg po BID and Aldactone 5mg po BID. His Physical exam is pertinent for a midline abdominal scar and GT in LUQ. His Mom states he's a 'happy baby' and is doing fine 'except for the holes in his heart'.
