Your company uses the traditional method of scheduling based on forecasts and the building up of inventory. They currently have a tremendous amount of excess inventory for some parts that they do not have any order for and no inventory for parts that they do have orders for. In addition, the company's inventory holding costs have increased substantially over the last few years. Your boss feels that she can solve this issue by implementing a material requirements planning (MRP) system.

Could a MRP system be an effective solution to fix the inventory issues of the company?
