It's time to start organizing all this great information you've been gathering the last few weeks and move from researching into organizing and synthesizing! To discussion board post, you'll need to have finished your research, reviewed chapters 9.3Links to an external site., 10.1Links to an external site. and 10.2Links to an external site. of your textbook, and watched the video lecture on organizational patterns.

Directions:

For this discussion board, I want you look at your information and topic, and decide which organizational pattern you will be using for your speech, what your main points will be, and what sources and pieces of info from those sources you will be using to support each main point.

In your original post, list out:

What your topic is.

What your specific purpose is. This should be informative.. Important and helpful hint--If you have the word "SHOULD" in your specific purpose, that's a problem. "Shoulding" on people is persuasive; it states or implies that we need to DO something, and that is inherently persuasive.

What organizational pattern you will be using to deliver your message.

What your working thesis statement is. (Review chapter 9.3Links to an external site. for a review of thesis statements)

What your main points are (label your main points with roman numerals I., II., III., etc). Under each main point, list out which sources and information you will use from your research to support it.
