Essay: Your comparison/contrast essay should be a minimum of 500 words and should provide analysis of the author's literary techniques as well as how your chosen texts reflect the society and culture of the time period.

Prompt #1: Compare one literary text from the Reformation to a literary text from the Renaissance with particular emphasis on how the literature of each time period reflects the society and culture.

Be sure to articulate the main similarities/differences and prevalent literary techniques each author uses in the texts you've selected from each literary movement.

Prompt #2: Choose either Macbeth, Sir Gawain, or Beowulf to address the following question. What modern values and/or universal themes are evident in the character? What does this tell us about how literature reflects society, culture, place, and/or history?
