Question: You are a detective in a medium-size city, and have obtained an arrest warrant for an assault suspect. Your department has 20 detectives, 8 narcotics officers, over a hundred patrol officers and even a SWAT team. The suspect is a known drug dealer who used a .357 magnum to shoot a rival drug dealer. You know he commonly deals drugs at the same street corner every day. You know where he lives, and you can easily get a search warrant for that location. Although you have two witnesses to the shooting, getting a confession from him and recovering the gun would make a stronger case. Discuss different methods of arresting him, and advantages and disadvantages of each. What method(s) could be used? What factors should be considered in making this decision?
