On May 31, 2011, a barge carrying 2,400 metric tons of brown sugar sank in Thailand's Chao Phraya River.

(a) If 90% of the weight of this brown sugar is sucrose (C12H22O11), what mass of dissolved oxygen would have been required to degrade this mass of sucrose had some not been recovered from the barge prior to its dissolution and dispersion into the river?
