Question: This unit was interesting due to the in-depth description of how to write a well-written essay. We were told in Unit 1 that Bethel University is a writing-based program. Knowing writing is the base of this program it only makes sense to know how to write well and to understand the bases of writing. After understanding how the basics of writing work, you then use your skills to continuously improve your work.
To write a good essay, you'll have to know what makes an essay. What makes an essay is an introduction, body, and conclusion. A well written, and creative introduction will get the attention of your readers. "Writing happens as an immediate felt experience" (Healy, 2019, p. 185). Feeling what you are writing about and being passionate will give you the utmost creativity which will help you write a well-written introduction and ultimately a well-written essay. You then have the body of the essay. The body, which can be multiple paragraphs long, is the in-depth explanation of the paper. Then lastly you have your conclusion which is your closing paragraph. Closing our essay with a well-written conclusion is just as important as the introduction. We all have seen a movie or a TV show to which is started well but the ending or the last episode was not put together poorly, and they get negative feedback about it the entire film.
In the end, writing an essay can be a breeze. There are multiple common struggles students encounter one of them being lack of creativity (Org, 2019). Even with that struggle along with the others, practice makes perfect. If the student is willing to learn and passionate about bettering themselves then their skills of writing a well-written essay are possible.
