Question: Drew's teacher knows that he is successful with blending phonemes to make words such as "hop", "top", and "mop". When Drew's teacher gives him a word, such as "flat", he can remember the sequence of sounds in the word. Drew also recognizes that "sunshine" without "shine" is "sun", and "hammer" without "mer" is "ham". He is able to blend and segment phonemes in words such as "sheep", "boat", and "twig", but has difficulty changing the word "black" into "block" and changing the word "block" into "flock".
