Question: You are to review one of the episodes of the the "Chicano! The Mexican American Civil Rights Movement" series. All four of the series episodes will be required viewing in this class. The first episode, "Quest for a Homeland," will be viewed during module 1, while the remaining three episodes ("Fighting for Political Power," "The Struggle in the Fields," and "Taking Back the Schools") will be viewed later in the session. However, if you wish to view any of those last three episodes early, the YouTube links are posted right below.

After you have selected your program, then prepare a 4-5 page review about your program and focus on these three points: First, provide a brief summary of the video and describe the main personalities and events associated with your programs. Second, comment on the historical context of the program. For example, did these events occur during the Cold War, World War II, or much earlier in the 20th century? What were some of cultural values and political themes associated with these periods? You are certainly encouraged to use your textbooks, or any of the other class readings or videos, to provide that background information. And ?nally, please present your thoughts about the video. What do you think were the strengths and weaknesses of the video? How did the video contribute to your understanding of modern Chicano history? And what lessons from the video do you think can be applied to modern Chicanos and Chicana as we move further into the 21st century?
