During the construction of an airport, a paleontologist is called in when a 75,000-year-old Columbian mammoth skeleton is found within some mudstone sediment. Along with this skeleton some bivalves that are found that, when tested via for isotopic oxygen via stable isotopic analysis, show a low amount of 18O. There are also some sediment structures that show evidence of mud cracks.
