Instructions: Interview Report
Contact someone who currently has a job you would like to have to determine what kind of writing (and how much) they do. The definition of "writing" used here includes all forms of written communication including email, personal writing (lists, notes, record keeping, etc.), and forms and computer programs which are "filled in," among many others, not just what is assumed to be "professional" writing such as as reports, letters, research articles, etc.*Please make this clear to your interviewee when you ask questions about the writing that is done.
Include the name and title of the person you interviewed, the date, and the type of interview: in person, on the phone or via email or online chat (or other form as appropriate).
Questions should include the following, but are not limited to:
1) How much writing do they do? How much is done alone? How much is done with other people and with whom do they write?
2) How does effective writing impact their work and how they are perceived by others?·
3) What kind of advice do they have for a student writer?
4) What are recent developments or controversial issues in their field?
Write a one half to one page report on your findings. Make use of headings and professional organizational patterns.
