The World Teleport Association awarded LaGrange city in 2000 as the most intelligent city. This award was due to their initiative, which allowed their citizens to get free Internet access. The deal made with Charter and WorldGate helped provide opportunities for the working class, and it helped kickstart the new era of a technologically advanced society. Although there were challenges along the way, which may have cost the city in terms of monetary value, the experiment of providing free internet across the city significantly helped those in need.

The people who benefitted the most from this initiative were students, the elderly, and workers who needed to gain computer skills. Correspondingly, the Free Internet Initiative project was considered successful. LaGrange, GA, has goals of reaching its potential of being a top city in the Nation and has allotted money to improve city issues to provide value for its citizens. For the city to continue its successful path and provide unique services and entertainment to its citizens, LaGrange city must do additional projects to fulfill its citizen's requests.
