Assignment:
Rebecca is in her mid 20's and lives in Eumundi, Queensland. Rebecca identifies as lesbian, and has found her long-term partner, Eliza. They recently bought a new home in Eumundi and have taken out a substantial mortgage to cover the purchase. They are planning to start a family in a few years, and the town has most health facilities available. Rebecca works full time as a shop assistant in a local health food store, a job she commenced 6 months ago. Her parents and 3 siblings (2 sisters and 1 brother) live in the same town. Rebecca is establishing herself as an artist and sells her handmade products in the local markets. She is active in the community, volunteering at the Red Cross Op Shop a morning a week and has a wide group of friends.
She and Eliza have an active social life and enjoy playing netball and tennis. Rebecca has had a few health issues, (including a diagnosis of endometriosis). Endometriosis was identified recently when she had severe pelvis discomfort and bloating leading up to and during her menstrual period, with heavy bleeding (menorrhagia). She underwent an explorative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Recently, however, she has noticed a sudden onset of tiredness, weight loss and seems to be bruising easily without an apparent cause. She is having difficulty keeping up with her job, social commitments and sport (netball).
This has prompted her to see her general practitioner (GP). The GP instigated a series of investigations and tests for Rebecca. Following which, she has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). PMH: Menorrhagia Endometriosis Since her diagnosis, Rebecca has spent considerable time researching her diagnosis online, however, feels some of the information found is confusing and contradicting. She is currently under care of the oncology team who are developing a treatment plan.
