This assignment is totally optional but going through this simple exercise will help you with 2 questions on the Hotels That Don't Miss A Beat assignment. THE MARKS AREN'T THE POINT OF THIS EXERCISE - IT'S GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS THAT WILL HELP YOU.

In class we talked about the importance of setting marketing goals and objectives. And we used a very simple graphic chart to illustrate the process and how goals and onjectives can be created even for personal projects as in learning to play the piano.

Use the chart - slide 4 - Marketing Objectives and Strategies powerpoint in Course Documents and the assignment link to Hotels That Don't Miss a Beat assignment) to help you with the following:

Select something that you would like to do in your personal or student life - anything that perhaps you want to improve or something that you would like to do - anything - take anotrher college or university program, learn ball room dancing, learn another language, learn how to skate, snowboard, downhill ski, play tennis, anything that has been in your mind for awhile but you haven't figured out how to start the process.

After you select what you want to do, then list the following: (point form is fine)

  • Overal goal - what is it that you would like to accomplish? what is the outcome that you desire?
  • What is your strategy /game plan to get this done?
  • What are your objectives (list 2) or benchmarks to measure how you are doing in your efforts? ( remeber to quantify them so you can measure how well you're doing.
  • What are your activities/tactics (list 2) to help acheive your objectives above?
