In Ch. 5 of "The Color of Water", Ruth discusses being molested as a child by her father and how it affected her. She also makes the following comment about what folks would say about her marriage to a black man, "Oh, she felt low, so she went on and married a nigger. Well, I don't care. Your father changed my life." Would you agree or disagree with what these folks are saying? Do you believe Ruth married a black man because she felt low due to being molested as a child?
